gigabyte-touchnote-t1028xBrad Linder of Lilliputing just got his hands on a Gigabyte TouchNote T1028X, the latest netbook to come with a touchscreen. In summer 2008, the Taiwanese company broke now ground by releasing the Gigabyte M912V, the first netbook to have a convertible touchscreen. Unfortunately, the M912V was a bit ahead of its time as it suffered from poor touch responsiveness, slow performance in Vista Basic (which it came with), and weak battery life. It was also scalding hot to the touch.

Now, it’s a year later and ASUS has gotten into the touchscreen netbook game with its Eee PC T91, a very disappointing system with great potential but poor performance. Can Gigabyte do better?

According to Brad, the T1028X has:

  • A 10.1-inch screen. This is a big improvement over the 8.9-inch T91 and M912V.
  • A 1366×768 pixel display. That’s a lot more screen real estate than your average 1024×600 10-inch netbook.
  • A 7650mAh battery that promises long endurance

Check out Brad’s Gigabyte TouchNote 1028X unboxing video and post to get a closer look at this promising new system.
