November 25th, 2009 by Avram Piltch

walmart-flierThere’s no need to stay up all night on Thursday and then fight the unruly crowds outside your local Wal-Mart at the crack of dawn, hoping for a chance to buy one of the retailer’s special low-cost notebooks. You can get most of these deals online as long as you’re willing to log on between 5 and 11 am ET on Friday November 27th. Shipping is a minuscule 97 cents!

Since quantities are limited, we definitely suggest visiting these links at 5 am on the dot or going at 4:59 and hitting your browser’s refresh button until you see you can get them.

Note: The direct links below WILL NOT WORK until 5 am on Friday the 27th. Until then, you can preview Wal-Mart’s flier online.

Notebook Deals

  • HP Pavilion G60-519WM 15.6-inch notebook is just $298. The and comes with a Windows 7 Home premium, 250GB hard drive, 3GB of RAM, a 720 1366×768 screen, and a DVD burner. The 2.2 GHz Intel Celeron CPU isn’t the world’s fastest processor, but this should be a great system for families or anyone on a budget.
  • HP G71-328WM 17.3-inch notebook is only $398! This system comes complete with a 2.2 GHz Intel Celeron CPU, a high resoultion 1600×900 display, 4GB of RAM, 320GB hard drive, and Windows 7 home premium. This 6.2 pound system isn’t the most portable, but it’s light for its size and makesĀ  a good multimedia system for the dorm or family den.

You can also get an eMachines eME62715.6-inch notebook with a Windows 7, an unknown AMD processor, DVD burner, 2GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive for $198 as an in-store only item, but we wouldn’t recommend braving the crowds for something that’s available only in limited quantities and could be gone by the time you get through the doors.

Update: If you missed those deals, you can still score an inexpensive notebook: the Acer Aspire AS7535 for $498. This 17.3″ notebook is a cousin to the Acer Aspire 7735Z, one of favorite budget notbooks of the year. The 7535 has an AMD processor and comes pre-loaded with Windows 7 (Home Premium 64-bit) but otherwise appears to have a similar configuration as the 7735Z. It also costs $100 less.

Peripherals

  • Western Digital 320GB My Passport portable USB hard drive for $49.This makes a great portable back-up drive and, for under $50, is also a fantastic gift. Normally these drives go for over $80.
  • Western Digital 1TB My Book for $78. This drive needs to be plugged so it isn’t quite as mobile as the My Passport, but it offers an awful lot of space for the price.
