Microsoft released the Windows 7 Beta to the public today, and you can download it by visiting the Microsoft Web site. The Customer Preview copy is available to the first 2.5 million people that download it. For our thoughts, check out our in-depth hands-on of the latest operating system.
The minimum requirements are as follows, and while you may be surprised to see 1GB of RAM listed as a requirement (we always recommend at least 2GB for Vista) we were able to run Windows 7 on the Eee PC 1000H ($79.95) with just 1GB of RAM just fine.
- Processor: 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
- Memory: 1 GB of system memory
- Hard drive: 16 GB of available disk space
- Video card: Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128MB memory (in order to enable Aero theme)
- Drive: DVD-R/W drive.
Get downloading and let us know what you think of Windows 7.
