General Dynamics Itronix Releases GD6000 Vehicle-Rugged Notebook
January 21st, 2009 by Joanna Stern
Maker of rugged notebooks General Dynamics Itronix released today its GD6000 vehicle-rugged notebook. Field technicians, law enforcement personnel and others whose offices reside in trucks, patrol cars, utility vans or other vehicles can score the latest technology in a seriously durable chassis. The Itronix GD6000 has no shortage of durable features including a spill resistant keyboard and shock mounted hard drive and display. It meets the military MIL-STD 810F standards for temperature range, vibration resistance, dust ingress protection and humidity. Based on the General Dynamics Itronix GoBook VR-2, the new GD6000 line will feature a 13.3 inch DynaVue touch screen display for increased outdoor use. Internally it packs a Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 processor, 120GB hard-drive, and up to 4GB memory. It will also be available with GPS and mobile broadband options. That durability comes at a cost though; the GD6000 starts at $3,495.
