FLO TV to Offer On-Demand Content and Interactive Media
April 13th, 2010 by Marc Flores
FLO TV has decided to expand its current video and mobile TV offerings by adding on-demand video, interactive media, pay-per-day and event passes, and time-shifted viewing options. The move comes in part because of consumer trends and where media consumption is headed. As consumers become more engaged in media, instead of being passive participants, FLO TV has decided to allow users to interact with content.
New applications will include:
- Interactive features that will enable users to interact with programming and advertising, allowing consumers to click for more information about a show or click to buy an advertised product.
- Pay-per-day passes designed to offer pay-as-you-go flexibility, providing consumers the ability to watch the FLO TV service without committing to a recurring monthly subscription. Event passes will provide an easy way for existing FLO TV subscribers to add premium content such as limited engagement, special events to their programming lineup.
- Time-shifted viewing, or “catch-up TV,” that will allow popular shows to be stored on FLO-enabled mobile devices, thereby granting viewers the ability to watch their favorite shows on-demand, even outside of a coverage area.
Since it’s available across several different platforms, handsets, and mobile devices, FLO TV won’t see too many issues with congestion, giving a better user experience compared to other carrier-driven TV and video services. FLO TV can also boast that FLO TV Personal Television is the first portable digital television with a dedicated network.
Now you don’t have to stay at home to be a couch potato.
