Passcodes days are officially numbered. The much-rumored, highly-anticipated fingerprint scanner has debuted on the iPhone 5s. It's officially called Touch ID. In addition to unlocking your phone, the feature can also be used to authenticate iTunes purchases. Built into the noticeably larger Home button, Touch ID utilizes a sapphire crystal with a capacitive touch sensor to take an image in 500 ppi resolution and scans sub-epidermal skin layers. Fingerprint information is never stored on iCloud or Apple servers keeping it safe and secure.
