eMusic Adds Flickr, YouTube, and Wikipedia Content
July 22nd, 2008 by Jeffrey L. Wilson
eMusic, the indie music store that refused to limit customers with pesky DRM long before Amazon MP3 and iTunes Plus came into being, announced today that its Web site is undergoing a change; a big, big change. Diving into the deep end of the Web 2.0 pool, eMusic’s redesigned album page will not only feature album info and track listings, but imported Flickr, Wikipedia, and YouTube content related to individual artists. In addition, album pages can be bookmarked, or sent to social networking sites like Digg, Facebook, Stumble Upon, and Twitter. eMusic has also launched a new browsing widget that’s designed to make it simple for users to dig through the company’s editorial content such as eMusic Dozens. But there’s more in store. Each month through the end of 2008, eMusic will launch new features focused on delivering relevant musical content including a third-generation recommendation engine and a new search function. eMusic is certainly changing the game in the area of music discovery, but is it enough to keep the store relevant in digital music store battle?
