Eeebuntu 8.10 Now Available

December 16th, 2008 by K. T. Bradford

EeebuntuLooking to put the latest Ubuntu on your Eee PC?  You’re in luck — Eeebuntu 8.10 is out!  The OSs Ubuntu Netbook Remix interface is designed for, you guessed it: netbooks.  In particular screens with low-res displays. This is particularly good news for users who don’t have a very active geek gene.  With the regular Ubuntu release there were several tweaks one needed to perform in order to get it working properly with the Eee PC.  Eeebuntu  supports the drivers for graphics, Wi-fi, touchpad, sound and more right out of the box. If you don’t have an external optical drive to install it from, Brad at Liliputing has a handy How To for installing from a flash drive. Hat Tip: Liliputing

Ubuntu-eee and eeebuntu are two different projects. Ubuntu-eee is going to be rebranded as Easy-Peasy, not eeebuntu. Eeebuntu is at 8.10, not ubuntu-eee which is at 8.04 still.
