Apparently Dell’s colored Inspiron line has been such a hit that the company is going a step further to help personalize laptops with color and designs. Today the company unveiled its Design Studio, an interactive gallery which allows Dell Studio laptop purchasers to decorate the lid of the laptop with more than 100 original artworks. Design Studio on Dell.com will initially only allow you to decorate the Studio 15 and 17, but the company plans to expand the design offerings to other notebook lines in the future. Each image is permanently tattooed into the laptop lid, making the design extremely durable. We got a chance to go hands on with a few of the notebooks last month and we can say it sure beats placing one of those flimsy skins on the lid of your notebook. The lids still feel smooth but just pop with colors. Placing the design on your notebook is totally interactive. Shoppers can apply a design, change viewing angles, zoom in on details, and read an artist’s inspiration or bio. There are lots of different available styles from artists including, Jason Bacon, Brittany Waldner, and Derek Welch, Guillaume Wolf, Joseph Amedokpo, Tristan Eaton, Siobhan Gunning, Bruce Mau, and Mike Ming. Our favorites are the Mike Mind and Jason Bacon designs. However that added design comes at a cost. Adding the adorned lid to a Dell Studio 15 and Studio 17 laptop will be an extra $75. They look pretty cool, but what do you think? Would you pay extra for one?
