Dell’s Announces Seven New Businesss Notebooks

Today, Dell took the wraps of several new notebooks designed to give the mobile professional speed, power, durability, mobility, and all-day battery life in lightweight, attractive bodies: The Dell Latitude E5400, E5500, E6400, E6500, E6400 ATG, E4200, and E4300. Although full specs weren’t available at the time of this writing, here’s a breakdown about what’s known about these machines:

The Dell Latitude E5400 (starting at $839, available now)

  • Intel processor
  • 5.5 pounds
  • 14.1-inch WXGA or WXGA+ display
  • VGA, four USB 2.0, head phone, mic, S-Video, FireWire, PCMCIA, memory card reader
  • TPM, Integrated fingerprint option
  • 6- and 9-cell battery options
  • Optional mobile broadband
  • Optical drive

The Dell Latitude E5500 (starting at $869, available now)

  • Intel processor
  • 6.3 pounds
  • 15.4-inch WXGA or WXGA+ display
  • VGA, four USB 2.0, head phone, mic, S-Video, FireWire, PCMCIA, memory card reader, Serial
  • TPM, Integrated fingerprint option
  • 6- and 9-cell battery options
  • Optional mobile broadband
  • Optical drive

The Dell Latitude E6400 ($921.00) (starting at $1,139, available now)

  • Intel processors
  • 4.3 pounds
  • 14.1-inch WXGA or WXGA + (LED backlit) display
  • VGA, Display Port, four USB 2.0, eSATA, FireWire, headphone, mic, 5-in-1 card reader, PCMCIA or ExpressCard/54
  • TPM, contactless and standard Smart Card reader, optional fingerprint reader
  • 4-, 6-, and 9-cell battery options, and 84WHr slice

The Dell Latitude E6500 (starting at $1,169, available now)

  • TPM, contactless and standard Smart Card reader, optional fingerprint reader
  • 4-, 6-, and 9-cell battery options, and 84WHr slice
  • Optional Nvidia discrete graphics
  • Optional 64GB HDD
  • Optional webcam
  • Optional color options
  • Optical drive

The Dell Latitude E6400 ATG (starting at $2,399, available next week) keeps the same features as the E6400, but adds:

  • Spill resistant keyboard
  • Removable, shock-mounted HDD
  • Meets military 810F standards for dust, vibration and humidity
  • Outdoor viewable display
  • Touchscreen

The Dell Latitude E4200 (price TBA, Sept)

  • Intel ULV processor
  • 2.2 pounds
  • 12.1-inch WXGA (LED backlit) display
  • VGA, FireWire, two USB 2.0, eSATA, headphone, mic, ExpressCard/34, memory card reader
  • TPM, Smart Card reader, optional fingerprint reader
  • Optional 32GB or 64GB SSD
  • No optical drive

The Dell Latitude E4300 ($1,409.00) (price TBA, Sept)

Common Features

  • Dell Control Point: Gives users a centralized location to control settings
  • Dell USB Powershare: Can charge device through a special USB port-even when the notebook is powered down.
  • Tons of wireless options: Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 Wi-Fi, Ultra Wide Band support, Mobile WiMAX support
  • Security: Contactless SmartCard, FIPs certified fingerprint reader, hardware-based full disk encryption, laptop tracking and recovery, remote data deletion, hard drive recovery, certified data destruction, vPro
