Dell Unveils Its Newest Classroom-Friendly Netbook, the Latitude 2110

While Dell’s Latitude notebooks are usually reserved for big businesses, its Latitude netbooks are a different story: they’re aimed squarely at classrooms. The 10-inch Latitude 2110, announced today, is the successor to the kinda rugged 2100. The 2100, which starts at $419, has Intel’s Pinetrail platform, including an Atom N470 processor, and promises up to 10 hours of battery life.

Once again, look for a kid-proof rubberized exterior. Wi-Fi is standard, of course, but it also has optional mobile broadband and even WiMax support (see, the 2110 stays true to its business-oriented Latitude roots). Our main concern: $419 is expensive for a  netbook nowadays (see: the $299 ASUS Eee PC 1001p), and this one doesn’t even come standard with a webcam. Let’s hope schools get some sweet volume discounts.
