Dell Streak $299 on Contract, Worth $100 More Than iPhone 4 and Captivate?
Today Dell officially announced the price of its Streak tablet-phone, and it will run you $299 with a two-year AT&T contract and $549 unlocked. That’s $100 more than the iPhone 4 and Samsung Captivate, and in the latter case you’re paying about $100 for an extra inch of screen real estate. Of course, that’s not all the 5-inch Streak offers. It has a front-facing camera for video calls, just like the iPhone 4, and Dell will be selling a nice assortment of accessories, including an HDMI dock and vehicle dock. Still, $299 is pretty steep, which is probably why earlier today Dell posted a video reminding folks that its Android OS 1.6 device will be fully upgradeable to Froyo (although they showed the Streak running 2.1).
Would you pay $299 for this slate? How much is its bigger size worth to you–if anything? Check out the video below and sound off in our poll. And don’t forget to check out our full Streak review.

While I do applaud that it will be upgradeable to Froyo. I don’t know if I’d pay $299 for it over say the Captivate. And you can definitely see my thoughts about it in the G Styled column (http://blog.laptopmag.com/g-styled-dell-streak-long-on-screen-size-short-on-sex-appeal)
I would use it as a internet tablet/slate device, but since I doubt I can get it with only a data plan (no voice), I think I’ll stick with my Captivate.

Actually Streak with its 5″ screen, forward camera & flash on rear camera still CANNOT hold a candle to the
Caprivate with its 4″ Super AMOLED SCREEN, 720P video, 3D capable, surrond sound, killer camera with latest
& greatest sofeware, 11 hrs.+ batt., Swype, 3 diff keyboards, etc.

as jason said earlier is it a phone or a tablet, would not have the captivate and the streak as they have the same functions, a streak and a dumbphone (for long batterylife) maybe.

Wow. Dell is shooting itself in the foot. They need to get the release date straight. All this messing around is turning me off to actually purchasing this product.

I think it is still worth the money, at least, for some people, like me, so I’m going to buy it.
If you have AT&T there are not much (good phones) to choose from. The Samsung Captivate seemed good but I
wanted better.
I think this is a good choice for everyone that is stuck with AT&T.
