Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Officially Discontinued As of Today
June 2nd, 2009 by Dana Wollman
So long, Inspiron Mini 9. It was nice knowing you (your four-cell battery and awkward keyboard, and all). As of today, Dell is officially discontinuing its 9-inch netbook.
When it came out, the Mini 9 stood out thanks to its easy upgradeabilty and integrated mobile broadband. But these days, consumers aren’t as keen on 9-inch netbooks. Dell’s most recent netbook, the Inspiron Mini 10v, has– you guessed it– a 10-inch screen. ASUS, too, has shifted focus to larger screen netbooks. Remember the Eee PC 901, which we reviewed a year ago? We barely do either.
And for all we know, 10-inch netbooks could go the way of 7 and 9-inch ones. Just yesterday, our own Notebook Diva Joanna Stern suggested that 12-inch notebooks (powered by Intel CULV processors, mostly) are becoming the new 10-inch netbooks.
