How to Delete Your Twitter Account

Perhaps you’ve embarrassed yourself one too many times on Twitter. Or perhaps you’re sick of the nonsensical ramblings of the people you follow. Or maybe you just want off this crazy social networking roller coaster altogether. Regardless of why, you’ve decided it’s time to delete your Twitter account. Here are nine steps to remove you from that 140 character limit forever.

1. Click the wheel icon on the top right, and scroll down to click Settings.

Twitter Settings

2. Click Request Your Archive to get a .zip file of all your previous Twitter data. That way at least you’ll have a record of your interactions on the micro-blogging site for posterity.

Concerning “How to delete your Twitter account”. Your instructions worked great! For Item #6, to locate the “Deactivate My Account” is found in small blue letters at the very bottom of the pate that it is on, where there are other items before you get to the bottom that stand out “louder” than those 3 words. It is in blue because it is a “link”. That would give better clarity to identifying where it is, and how to look for it at the bottom of the page. The instructions are needed because Twitter really does not make it easy to delete your account … hence the way that it is.

    Thank You
