Deal of the Day: Save $300 on Samsung X430

If you’re a regular reader of LAPTOP, you know that we’ve praised many of the Samsung notebooks that have made it into our office and lamented the Korean-only ones that haven’t. Today we’ve got a rare treat: Samsung was previously only going to release the 14-inch X430 in Korea, but changed their minds last fall and released it as a Microsoft Store exclusive. Through LogicBUY, it’s available today for $799, a $300 savings off the regular price of $1,099.
This elegant ultraportable has a black carbon fiber lid with a white interior and weighs just 4.41 pounds. Under the hood there’s an ultra-low voltage Intel Core i3 processor, discrete Nvidia GeForce graphics, a spacious 640 GB hard drive, and 4 GB of RAM. Because it’s sold through the Microsoft Store, the Windows 7 image on the system is free of any trial programs or bloatware.
Base specs: Intel Core i3-330UM 1.2 GHz processor, discrete Nvidia GeForce 310M with 512 MB of video memory, 640 GB 5400 rpm hard drive, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, SuperMulti DVD burner, 0.3 MP webcam, 14-inch LED backlit display (1366 x 768), 802.11b/g/n wireless, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
