s9_titanium_black_00_firstToday, Cowon took the wraps off the S9, the company’s latest portable media player. At first glance, the 2.7 ounce S9 reads like the standard Cowon PMP:

  • Touchscreen GUI
  • AVI, WMV, Xvid, SP/ASP video support
  • MP3, WMA, FLAC, OFF, WAV, APE video support
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • 3.3-inch, 480 x 272-pixel resolution display

But underneath the hood of the player is 500-MHz dual-core processor,  a G-sensor accelerometer that powers the auto-pivot display, and improved battery performance, which Cowon claims will deliver 11 hours of video and 55 hours of audio. The most intriguing feature, however, is  the GUI customization that will allow users to create and share interfaces. It’s also the first Cowon PMP to feature the company’s next-generation JetEffect 2.0 technology which features upgraded bass boost, stereo sound, EQ filtering, and more. Interested? The Cowon S9 will be available December 19th in 8GB ($199) and 16GB ($239) capacities.
