Cowon 02 PMP Headed Stateside With A Smorgasbord of Multimedia Playback

In terms of compatibility with a wide range of audio/visual codecs, few companies serve up as much multimedia love as Cowon. Today, the company announced another feature-rich portable media player, the Cowon 02, its first flash-based, 4.3-inch (480 x 272) widescreen offering.
Available in 8GB ($219), 16GB ($249), and 32GB ($299) capacities (with a memory SD/SDHC expansion slot for adding additional content), the 7.2 ounce Cowon 02 features a touchscreen interface, JetEffect audio processing, 10-band equalizer (with 8 presets), and 720p HD video playback.
The supported video formats/codecs are AVI, WMV, ASF, MP4, MKV, OGM, MPEG/DAT, MTV, DivX, XviD, MPEG-4, H.264, and more; the supported audio formats/codecs are MP3, WMA, AAC, ASF, FLAC, OGG, APE, WAV, Monkey Audio, and more; the supported photo formats are JPG, GIF, PNG, and RAW. Cowon also tosses in a CSD viewer for opening PDF, Word, PowerPoint, and other files, and a FLAC-format audio recorder.
