Copy All Of Your Movies, Legally, With RealDVD
September 8th, 2008 by Todd Haselton
Real Networks today announced a super killer product that will allow you to take and store all of your DVD movies on a hard drive for playback later at anytime. We’ve had our hands on the software for a little while now and we love it.
Movies take about 35 minutes to transfer over, and each is stored in a ~7.5GB folder, so you’ll want to make sure you have a large hard drive for storing your movies on. Once you’ve created a library, though, you can start any of your movies directly from an Apple-esque homescreen that’s easy to use. Some movies don’t have cover art, but all are displayed in order, by genre, rating, title, or director. If you click a movie you can play it or read more details about it, all pulled down from the net. RealDVD costs $29.99 initially and $49.99 down the road, but you can buy licenses for up to five computers at $19.99 a pop.
Check out our hands on video and review, which is now posted.
