All businesses, whether they be massive conglomerates or smaller Mom and Pop operations, share the desire to guard themselves and their employees from cyber risks. Also high on the corporate threat list is legal action stemming from workers accessing offensive material Online with company property. ContentWatch aims to placate both company fears with its new ContentProtect Mobile for Business software.
Known for its Net Nanny line of desktop software, ContentWatch has a long history of locking down browsers from viewing questionable content using strict Web filtering techniques. The firm now plans to bring its skills to mobile business devices. ContentProtect will block sites deemed dubious with advanced context-based filtering so as not to impact viewing of innocent material.
Shown here at CTIA 2011, ContentProtect Mobile is planned to run on both Android and iOS tablets and smart phones via an installed app. It will also guard mobile work forces against other threats such as malware, viruses, and evil apps.
Other nice features include remote wipping plus GPS tracking of lost handsets. IT departments can also manage what apps are installed and monitor all handset communication.
Expected to roll out by the first half of this year, support for other mobile platforms such as Windows Phone 7, BlackBerry, and Symbian is planned.
