CherryPal Bing Netbook Touts Cloud Based OS, Otherwise Pretty Standard

cherrypalblingColorado’s Sundance Film Festival: a prime setting to introduce a netbook? CherryPal thought so. Best known for its small Cloud based nettop,  the company (like many these days) is ready to bring its cloud-based operating system to the netbook. Called the CherryPal Bing, the specs are standard fare, including a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive. The 10 inch netbook is surrounded by 3 USB ports, a headphone, mic, 3-in-1 media card and has a 1.3 megapixel webcam. No word on what type of battery the Bing will sport, but CherryPal is claiming 5 hours and that “the Bing is the fastest, most affordable and least power consuming Intel Atom N270 based netbook on the market.” Though it will be available with Windows XP, CherryPal’s GreenMaraschino Linux operating system could set it apart. The OS is preloaded with applications including Firefox, OpenOffice,  and instant messaging (Yahoo, AOL, Google, MSN and Skype). No offical word on pricing but CherryPal is running a limited offer on Amazon.com. Customers can get the C114 desktop (nettop) and the Bing for only $399.

Seems like CherryPal isn’t done with netbooks either. The site reveals: “Coming soon is yet another laptop/netbook, based on a different processor architecture that will provide even more power savings.”  Now we are excited.
