Bsquare Announces Flash for Dell’s Android-Powered Netbook– Wha???

May 6th, 2009 by Jeffrey L. Wilson

logo_headline_homev3Fresh off the news that HTC and T-Mobile may be working on a Google Android netbook, Bsquare (a software solutions provider for embedded devices) tossed its hat into the ring with a rather bold announcement: It’s porting Adobe Flash Lite 3.17 onto Dell netbooks powered by the Android platform. That’s right, Android on a Dell netbook. Bsquare’s release didn’t state which Dell netbooks would run Android, or when such mini-notebooks will appear on store shelves. Considering that this is the first time we’ve heard any public word about Dell producing an Android netbook, we’re following up with the PC giant for a statement, as well as Bsquare for additional information. As soon as we get word on this tasty morsel of a news item, you’ll get word. [Bquare's press release] Update: We’ve recieved word from a Dell spokesperson.

“The Bsquared news release erroneously mentioned Dell and is being recalled. Dell Does not offer an Android based netbook.”
