In my honest opinion, this browser just serves to give a few black people some green, while housing or encasing the black population.

There are a ton of themes for firefox that could be considered “black” i guess, which would be what I’d recommend to the black community…customize and theme what you use to your liking.

I’m white, us soldier, pagan and don’t judge you at all…until something happens. Like when a white/black man attempts to steal something or hurt someone…then I’ll judge that person…that person alone.

I can’t guarantee you’ll find add-ons specifically for being queer, black, childfree, feminist, female, or a cheesecake lover, but you probably will find add-ons for things more directly relevant to web browsing, such as whether you use Tor, which social networking sites you frequent, and so forth.

I’m not really sure why this kind of thing would exist…I don’t get it…i can satisfy all of my “Black guy needs” by typing in my favorite website on any browser…even my cell phone…If this thing was built to give resources to impoverished neighborhoods or fight HIV-AIDS, and everytime you logged on it sponsored a starving child’s meal for the day, i would be sold. sure, it feels good to have “black things”…black ownership…but this attempt at “making things fair” is just going to confuse people and create egregiousness. frankly, it makes us seem picky and greedy; this idea also totally dismisses the multifaceted conception of Black identity, as if something “tailor made for blacks” is gonna apply to all of us (peace to Angeline).

“Blackbird” could also be a play on “Firebird,” the original name for Firefox. Besides, black folks are known for taking words and inverting or shifting their meaning, if only among ourselves.

interesting that the term “Blackbirding” refers to the recruitment of people through trickery, and a term tied to slavery (according to wikipedia). I agree with the author – there is little to no information on 40a or its founders, a fact that has me skeptical of the product’s intent.

For another example, see MartinLutherKing.org. (That site is run by white supremacists.) and please don’t believe a word you read on it.
