BlackBerry Presenter Lets You Leave Laptop at Home
January 6th, 2010 by Mark Spoonauer, LAPTOP Editor in Chief
PowerPoint jockeys with BlackBerrys, rejoice! You no longer need to lug your notebook around just to give your pitch. Just bring along the BlackBerry Presenter for the ride. This tiny 1.2-pound accessory plugs right into a projector using its VGA or S-Video ports, and you beam your slides to it via Bluetooth. We’re not talking about static presentations either; this device supports most of the animations and transitions available in PowerPoint 2003 and 2007. We especially like Freeze Mode, which allows users to freeze the presentation, find the slide they want to project, and then select that slide without the audience seeing you flip through your deck. Just makes sure your BlackBerry runs OS 4.6 or later (sorry Curve 8300 and Flip 8200 owners). The BlackBerry Presenter will be available online starting this month for $199.
