Black Friday Notebook Deals

The big day is almost here: Black Friday.  Will you be in line at 5, 4, or 3AM looking to score some sweet deals on technology?  The big box retailers are offering discounted tech, but not all of them are worth losing sleep over.  Notebook.com helpfully put together a list of all the laptops being offered for Black Friday broken down by store.

Several stores are offering an HP Pavillion G50 in varying configurations.  This budget notebook would probably be okay for someone who uses their laptop mainly for browsing, e-mail, word processing, and other tasks that don’t require a robust system.  Just don’t rush to get one if you need a serious workhorse.  The lowest price on the G50 is at Office Depot: $349.  It comes with a little snag — $200 off instantly but a $50 mail-in rebate.  That’s way better than the Circuit City deal, which requires a mail-in rebate to get to $399, or the Staples system, which is also $399.

All of the stores are offering at least one laptop for $500 or less, but some are limiting quantities per store.  Here’s the breakdown:

• Office Depot: HP Pavilion G50-112NR for $349–15.4 inch/160GB HDD/3GB RAM/Intel Pentium T3200 CPU
• Circuit City: HP Pavilion dv4-1114NR for $499 (10 per store)–14.1 inch/150GB HDD/3GB RAM/Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
• Circuit City: HP Pavilion G50 for $499 & $399–15.4 inch/250 & 160GB HDD/2GB RAM/Intel Pentium T3200 CPU
• Best Buy: HP Pavilion dv4-1114NR for $499 (10 per store)–14.1 inch/150GB HDD/3GB RAM/Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
• Best Buy: Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5892 for $479 & $379–15.4 inch/250 & 160GB HDD/4GB & 3GB RAM/Turion 2.0GHz CPU

Remember, some of these require mail-in rebates to get to the final discount, which can be a pain and still put you beyond budget.  Research the deals carefully before you brave early-morning November weather.
