It’s big, beautiful, and ready to be filled with apps.
The Apple iPad has made the long-awaited journey from Rumorville to Realitytown earlier today, along with the happy news that nearly all of the apps available for the iPhone and iPod touch will be compatible with the 10-inch touchscreen device. The extra real estate should allow you to run most of the 140,000 (and growing!) apps in full screen mode, so you can get up and personal with your favorite mobile tools and games.
So as you drool over our Apple iPad hands-on coverage, we’ll list our favorite iPhone apps that we can’t wait to see on the device (and hope that don’t become pixelated when blown out to 1024 x 768-pixel resolution). Check ‘em out.
Craigs Ads: If you’re looking for a new apartment, house, job, or random item, Craigs Ads brings Craigs List’s deep well to the Apple iPad. No more reading tiny text on the iPhone’s 3.5-inch display.
Earthworm Jim: The classic action-platformer should look marvelous on the iPad’s display thanks to a modern visual overhaul, and enemies’ attacks should be easier to pick up.
iFitness: Rock-hard abs are only few finger swipes (and dozens of sit ups) away when using this workout app that aspires you to Brad Pitt level of sexy through photo demonstrations.
Mint: Keep track of your spending habits and account balances with this handy app.
MobileNavigator: This slick GPS app offers street name pronunciation, lane assistance, and an easy-to-use interface.
Newsstand: Our favorite news aggregator brings the latest articles from around the Web to one central, visually attractive location.
QuickOffice Mobile: If the new mobile version of iWorks isn’t your bag, baby, then this portable version of Office may be what you’ll need for crafting documents and spreadsheets on the go.
SlingPlayer Mobile: This handy app will allow you to stream spring training games playing on your home TV to your Apple iPad over Wi-Fi.
WeatherBug Elite: WeatherBug Elite delivers highly-detailed weather maps as well as hourly updates.
Zagat To Go: Check out the ratings (and photos!) of over 40,000 restaurants, both in the U.S. and abroad.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Check out some of our other top apps and share which ones you’d like to see on the Apple iPad.

1) Laptop magazine. Or an iBook section with magazines that include Laptop magazine in it. And yes I want the complete magazine, with eventual evolution to include video and interactivity and comment sections and social and …
2) A great photo editor. A place to do the editing you would otherwise put off for the photos from your iPhone or digital camera. Tagging, rotation, tweaking, clipping, red eye removal, etc. Plus assemble simple music/photo collages.
3) A great video editor. Like Reel Director, but extended to the faster CPU and the larger display. Again not a competitor for Adobe’s powerhouse, but rather a simple way to edit and manage video clips into edited movies.
4) LogMeIn. Remove control your PC from your lap. ‘Nuff said.
5) Sling Player. Agree completely on this one.
6) A really really good universal remote application. Perhaps using bluetooth to communicate with an IR blaster? Nice big screen, fat channel icons, a great scrollable channel guide, etc.
7) Scrabble, Wild West Pinball, lots and lots of games scaled up to the larger screen.
9) An application that turns the iPad into a Wacom tablet for your PC, liked by Bluetooth.
10) The Stocks application

I’d be all over a Wacom style app that would tag team with a pressure sensitive stylus. Maybe it could work with a basic level Photoshop or Illustrator app that doesn’t hog a lot of memory.
If I could sketch out my daily toons on it I would buy one tomorrow. Forgot, I gotta wait a couple of months.
