Bad JooJoo – The Tablet Formerly Known As CrunchPad Needs A New Name

Fusion Garage may not be able to call their tablet the CrunchPad, but that is no excuse for the device’s new name: Joojoo. CEO Chandra Rathakrishnan claims that they came up with this name because Joojoo means magic and the device works magic. Uh huh. First of all, that term Chandra is thinking of is spelled JuJu, derived from the French joujou. Second, has anyone over at Fusion Garage thought through the implications of a product named after a West African-derived form of witchcraft? I’m not at all sure that’s the kind of magic Chandra wants to evoke. Unless he hopes that every time a consumer pokes the capacitive screen Michael Arrington feels it in his ribs. Anyway, we here at LAPTOP all agree that Joojoo is an unfortunate name. We want to help Fusion Garage succeed, so we’ve come up with some alternate suggestions. Which do you like best? Or maybe ours suck just as much. What would you call the tablet formerly known as CrunchPad? Tell us in the comments. We’ll add the best suggestions to our poll and send the names with the most votes to Fusion Garage’s PR department.
