Baby Got Back

Netbook users, in their quest for longer-lasting batteries, can sometimes get desperate. So desperate, in fact, that they will even entertain buying batteries that are wider than the netbooks themselves.
Meet the 10-cell battery for the Eee PC 1000H and 901. This behemoth will last 10 – 14 hours, reportedly. If you can fit it in your carrying case, that is.
I am all for longer-lasting batteries and would love something that could last me 10 hours, though I would probably only need about 8 before getting back to a plug. But this seems excessive, even to me.
Even the 9-cell for the MSI Wind didn’t stick out that much — I prefer a little extra underneath than unattractively protruding from the sides like that.
On a related note, if you’re contemplating a second battery for your Eee PC 701 or 900, you might be interested in this spare battery charger. Now you can keep both of your batteries full when you’e at home so you can switch them out easily while on the go.
Update: The battery actually looks fine on an Eee PC 1000H and thus it makes a lot more sense for users with that netbook. Still, I can imagine plenty of 900 users drooling over the possibility of 10 hours.
