Toy Fair 2010
Avatar i-TAGs Bring Action Figures To Life On Your Computer

At this year’s Toy Fair we saw a lot of physical toys that included an online or digital element to them, usually in the form of additional games or stories featuring the toy in question. One of the best implementations of this we saw was the i-TAG technology Mattel included with their line of Avatar toys. That’s James Cameron’s Avatar, not the Airbender.
Taking a cue from the movie’s amazing 3D CGI, each of the physical toys comes with a plastic i-TAG card. When you place the card under a webcam, a 3D creature, character, or machine from the movie appears on your computer’s screen. These virtual creations can interact with you or with each other, and the detail on them is amazing. Learn more about the action figure with on-screen bios and facts, plus unlock different moves and even teach your virtual toy some tricks.
Watch the video below to see the i-TAGs in action.
Avatar action figures start at $8.99 and the i-TAG cards are free with each one. They work with Mac or PC — click over to AvatariTag.com to learn more and set up the software.
