AT&T Launching Five Android Phones this Year from Dell, HTC, and Motorola, Plus 2 webOS Devices
January 6th, 2010 by Mark Spoonauer, LAPTOP Editor in Chief
We’ve been wondering when AT&T was going to jump on the Android bandwagon, and the carrier has just made it official. It will be bringing five devices to market in 2010 from Dell (yes, Dell), HTC, and Motorola. Details are sketchy at the moment, but this is what’s known so far.
* A Motorola smartphone, powered by MOTOBLUR, with a unique form factor and an AT&T exclusive.
* Dell’s first smartphone, based on the Android platform and an AT&T exclusive. It’s called the Dell Mini 3
* A HTC smartphone, based on the Android platform, and an AT&T exclusive
AT&T says that it will also be bringing two Palm webOS devices to market, so it will bascially have all the smart phone OS bases covered. The carrier also says that it will be upgrading its network to 7.2 Mbps speeds throughout 2010 and 2011 to keep up with data demand. Those faster speeds can come soon enough.
