Apple Event By the Numbers: 200 Million iTunes Accounts, 15 Million iPads in 9 Months

We’re here live at the Apple event and Steve Jobs had some pretty hefty numbers to share. What did he emphasize most? The huge advantage the iPad has over competing platforms when it comes to apps. He also took a thinly veiled shot at the Xoom, pointing out that the iPad beats Motorola’s tablet and other slates on price.

  • 100 million books sold in one year (Random House now on board)
  • Recently surpassed 200 million accounts
  • Apple has paid out over $2 billion to developers thus far
  • Recently shipped 100 millionth iPhone
  • 15 million iPads sold in 2010 (more than every Tablet PC ever sold), $9.5 billion in revenue in 9 months
  • More than 65,000 apps available for the iPad (vs. maybe 100 for Android 3.0)

In the Laptop magazine dated April 2011, you reference an Apple survey on the bottom of page 22. The reference is listed in the “by the second” information. I am having a problem finding that survey. Would you please send me the locaton of the full Apple survey? Thanks! Nolan Clemens
