Android Search Made Easier With Written Gestures

There can never be enough ways to perform searches on your smartphone, and it looks like Android users are getting yet another method to do so. Google has just announced Gesture Search for Android versions 2.0 or higher – 1.5 and 1.6 users apparently aren’t getting any love in this department. If voice search or using a home page widget just doesn’t cut it for you, Gesture Search allows you to draw letters on the screen to help pull up the info you need, such as music, contacts and applications.

According to Google, Gesture Search is intuitive and will compensate for user errors as seen in the image here. It also learns so it prioritizes future searches based on previous ones. Right now, the application is available in Android Market but is still part of Google Labs. So, if you decide to take the plunge and try it out, Google wants to know how much you love or hate it. While you’re at it, feel free to chime in and let us know about your experiences!
