Sorry Google but physical keyboard is really something I really need. Mytouch 3g slide is not best phone I would ever dream but its not trying to be cooler than iPhone, which is just iPod touch with phone lets face it. Mytouch 3g slide has everything to be considered as real modern phone. HD video on phone? Really? If thats what you need vote for Nexus One.
Also Nexus One is more expensive without contract.
June 30th, 2010 at 10:35 am
Wife has the 3G Slide, I have the N1. Love both of them, but N1 has hidden goodies, like Wireless N/FM radio, faster upgrades and more easily customized with other ROMs. Besides, the SnapDragon processor will surely keep the life expectancy of this device around for awhile.
Don’t get me wrong, the Slide has a great physical keyboard, but most can deal without one once you get to using it. I was a long time physical keyboard guy, but that all changed with the N1
June 30th, 2010 at 11:00 am
my touch slide hands down, they are identical, only difference is , 1 ghz processor, and slide has flash on camera, with yy modes, and genius button, and a slide out keyboard, but speeds dont vary enough that the 1 ghz processor makes any difference.
June 30th, 2010 at 11:06 am
This will be a blowout by Nexus one vs mytouch
June 30th, 2010 at 11:24 am
THose of you voting for the nexus one, why??? as far as a phone goes the slide has way more capablity .
1. it has a better camera than the nexus
2. It has a slide out keyboard instead of all touch screen
3. comes preloaded with swype (nexus does not have it)
4. has my modes customization (nexus does not)
5. Has a genius button (nexus does not )
6. costs way less, (you have to purchases nexus one through google, you cant make any changes to your plan for two years or your charged the whole rate)
7. has an optipad which is way better than a trackball (nexus does not)
8. has multitouch and flash player just like nexus one.
June 30th, 2010 at 12:22 pm
The Nexus One is far superior. If you’ve seen the OLED screen (much higher res than the Slide’s), which is incredible, or experienced how fast the 1GHz processor really is, you would have no doubt. It also has Flash now, not in a few months when HTC finishes working on the Froyo upgrade. It will always have updates before any other phone, since it is straight from Google.
Basically, it’s thinner, lighter, and faster with a better version of the software. Don’t need a genius button to tell me that’s just plain better.
June 30th, 2010 at 12:26 pm
@ Alan i agree BUT the 3g slide doesnt deserve to be here in the first place just as your asking why ppl are voting for the nexus 1 b/c its doest have as much capability………….last round i wondered why ppl were voting for the 3g slide because it doesnt have as much capability as the Evo….. Think about this….slide doest have a 1ghz processer or 2 cameras or 4g networking cant record 720p HD videos cant take 8 megapixel pics cant be used as a wireless hotspot cant stream live Tv or have 800×480 res……………………….so how did the slide get this far anyway?
June 30th, 2010 at 12:40 pm
6 months from now phones will be coming out with 1.5ghz processors maybe soon there also 2ghz processors since intel is stepping in with smartphones now. carriers will be inching there way to be 4G(other than sprint) , and when this happens the my touch slide and other phones in that category will seem like phones for the teenagers and younger audience. for us grown folks that do more than twitter and text…. samsung galaxy s, i-phone 4, droid x, htc evo, nexus 1, and the upcoming better than these phones are better suited for us who crave hi tech devices that can entertain on many more levels than the mediocre stuff. why settle for less when theres better for just a couple bucks more. it just depends on what you want out of a smartphone. as for me i want the most features and nothing less because i actualy use them all. i guess what im saying is this contest has no winners if the winner is based on preffrence more than anything instead of the content and quality of the device.
June 30th, 2010 at 12:43 pm
I’m tired of u fools who keep putting down the mytouch slide. The EVO tried to cheat and beat the slide but of course we still won!!! If you don’t mind, go find the article where the Slide places first in the GPU comparison test beating out even the Nexus One, the Incredible and the Evo didn’t even stand a chance. Like I said before the only phones that should even be able to even hold a candle to the Slide aren’t even out yet!!!
June 30th, 2010 at 12:58 pm
ALAN! I have a nexus one and YES IT DOES HAVE SWYPE!
The search button is the EXACT SAME AS GENIUS BUTTON!
TRACKBALL is WAY BETTER than optipad.
and take this, nexus has 2.2, which blows it over the top.
June 30th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
@Alan
1. Marginal improvement. N1 can record video @ 720p, Slide cannot.
2. Which makes the phone thicker and heavier
3. Swype can be downloaded, I have it on my N1
4. Again, another app download
5. ahhh, tap the search bar and mic button, it does the same thing as the “genius” button
6. Bought an N1 from Google and upgraded the plan to family to get slide on the father’s day special. You can change the plan, you just can’t downgrade, to a lower plan or cancel the contract (the latter is true of any subsidized phone)
7. Okay
8. N1 has Froyo, and Flash 10.1, slide does not
June 30th, 2010 at 1:41 pm
After having played with the slide, I bought one and sold my Nexus One to make up what I had spent. Don’t let the smaller screen, lack of AMOLED or lower resolution fool you, this is a GREAT phone!
June 30th, 2010 at 1:43 pm
The EVO 4G is better than the Nexus One, yet the EVO 4G lost to the mytouch and the nexus is winning. WHAT?!
June 30th, 2010 at 1:43 pm
Nexus One, definitely. I don’t like a physical keyboard.
June 30th, 2010 at 1:59 pm
@Alan
I’m glad you like the MyTouch 3G slide. I’m happy for you, for real. But it’s like saying to your team mate, “I’m better than you”. With regards to this poll, if the MyTouch 3G Slide wins, I’m ok with that. I couldn’t care less if my N1 gets eliminated in the first round. The way I see it, the more they compete (iOS4, Android, WebOS, et. al.) the better phone I will get in the future.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:03 pm
@ Alan. I understand that u like the mt3g slide, but lets be realistic: 1. The nexus one camera is capable of capturing 720p video. My touch is not. 2. Swype is simply a preference in which most don’t care for. 3 a button for customization? Pointless. Try to run live wallpapers on the mytouch…..not gonna happen. 4. I have the unlimited loyalty plan. 5.optical pad? 1up for mytouch. 6 multi touch is on the nexus one with full flash player 10.3 mytouch is limited with flash lite. In every aspect, nexus one is dominant in every way except for a keyboard. You lose!!!
June 30th, 2010 at 2:05 pm
Alan,
1. Nexus One has 1ghz Snapdragon processor vs. 600mhz on the slide
2. It has a larger screen with a significantly higher resolution
3. Android 2.2 is now available on the Nexus One
4. Swype is also available for Nexus One
5. Camera is the same, just no flash
6. Costs the same on new contract. For Even More Plus customers, all phones are purchased at retail price
7. Nexus One is 1.2oz lighter than the Slide
So your basis for comparison is that the Slide has my modes, genius button, optipad vs trackball, and a slide out keyboard. To me, none of those things outweigh the processor, screen size/resolution, and difference in weight. I used to be against not having a physical keyboard, but after having the original MyTouch, it’s no big deal. I take the Nexus One.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:07 pm
Froyo brings 802.11n support to Nexus One. The vanilla Android is running on the Nexus One as well which I consider a positive. Proprietary UIs built on top of the platform slow the release cycle and introduce often unneeded complexity.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:09 pm
To all those who voted for the Nexus One – Thank you for your sanity, logic and reasoning.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:10 pm
Nexus has a 3.7″ screen (Slide does not)
Nexus has 800×480 resolution (slide does not)
Nexus has stock android and gets all the updates first (slide does not)
nexus has 1Ghz (slide does not)
Should I go on?
PS… Slide has a 5MP camera (JUST like Nexus)
June 30th, 2010 at 2:13 pm
Alan, you’re a tool.
The ONLY SUPERIOR FUNCTION TO THE SLIDE is the keyboard. Your 2 year thing is wrong. It’s 120 days, and you ALWAYS upgrade your plan… you just can’t downgrade or cancel. You can upgrade your plan a week, month or year after you get an N1 and there are no xtra charges at all.
Oh, and the HD2 runs Android now… Woohoo!
HTC, release a Snapdragon with a slide! I don’t want an LG…
June 30th, 2010 at 2:19 pm
@Alan
The Mytouch isnt even in the same league as a Nexus One. Nexus One is Google’s flagship phone.
A 1Ghz processor, No plastic slider garbage.
Android 2.2, which makes the phone even faster than it was before, even though the old version still would have smoked the Mytouch.
Swype doesnt matter at all, but you can get it on the nexus if you want.
Both cameras are 5MP (Dont see how you missed this).
My modes customization is just another HTC feature which will prevent you from getting Android 2.2. Id trade a genius button and my modes for Wifi Tethering any day.
I already bought the nexus one back in January when it came out, and frankly, it was better back then, than the mytouch is now, and the mytouch just came out.
The trackball on the Nexus One is never used and neither is a useless optipad on the Mytouch.
It may have multitouch, but with half the screen resolution, who cares.
The flash player is not the same as the Nexus One. The Nexus One runs embedded flash content in Android 2.2 Flash version 10.1. No Skyfire needed to view flash.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
This android cup thing is such BS. MyTouch 3G Slide beat out EVO?! LOL! LOL! LOL! Just look at the damn specs, morons who voted. Just because you have a certain device doesn’t mean it’s better than the others, especially if the specs are super underwhelmed, come on! I don’t have any of these, but at least I have some common sense.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:27 pm
1. Both have 5mp and a flash
2. No need for keyboard with swype
3. Get swype from beta.swype.com
4. Gimmick
5. Again useless gimmick
6. If you know what you’re doing with android, it’s worth the money.
7. You have a touch screen device, why do you need a track ball/pad
8. Yes it does have multi-touch, but mt3gs does not have full flash, it has flash lite
So the mt3gs is a nice mid level android device, but no where near on par with the nexus.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:42 pm
HAHAHA i love how everyone is dissing alan. he just doesn’t make sense.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:47 pm
i voted for the nexus. why? it comes down to personal preference.
- i use swipe on my current phone even with a keyboard – and im sure you can get swipe on a n1
- processor performance – i can tell the difference
- from the new rumors, MTS wont be able to run ginger bread – this is a big reason for me.
you asked. im just not a big fan of being stuck on a old version of android.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:52 pm
Damn! Its Verizon vs. T-Mobile huh well as an N1 owner I have to chose the Nexus for its performance, stock Android OS, and AMOLED screen.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:56 pm
The mytouch 3g is a great phone too. Its quick and solid but I prefer stock Android with ADW launcher
June 30th, 2010 at 2:57 pm
come on, you people are blind. Check the friggin link FOOLS!!!! http://www.google.com/m/url?client=ms-android-tmobile-us&ei=eJMrTPjAB5yytwfjgO8J&gl=us&hl=en&q=http%3A%2F%2Fandroidwebportal.com%2F2010%2F06%2Fbaffling-mytouch-3g-slide-tops-all-other-android-phones-in-gpu-benchmarks%2F&resnum=2&source=android-browser-key&ved=0CBAQFjAB&usg=AFQjCNEftBtGIMZy9-EjjCocrOU7Ug4EPg
June 30th, 2010 at 3:00 pm
When anyphone on here can touch the Slide at 2.1 then we can talk about 2.2. Until then shut up. http://www.google.com/m/url?client=ms-android-tmobile-us&ei=eJMrTPjAB5yytwfjgO8J&gl=us&hl=en&q=http%3A%2F%2Fandroidwebportal.com%2F2010%2F06%2Fbaffling-mytouch-3g-slide-tops-all-other-android-phones-in-gpu-benchmarks%2F&resnum=2&source=android-browser-key&ved=0CBAQFjAB&usg=AFQjCNEftBtGIMZy9-EjjCocrOU7Ug4EPg
June 30th, 2010 at 3:01 pm
I went with the Nexus One of the two as the hardware is excellent, along with Google’s device support. I hope that the rumors of the HTC Vision are true, then I can get my Passion/Desire device with a QWERTY keyboard, with a dual core processor to boot.
June 30th, 2010 at 3:57 pm
The Specs are WRONG!!
GOOGLE NEXUS ONE Supports Wireless B/G/ and N now with the final Froyo 2.2 release!!!
See for yourself, set your wiresless n router to accept N ONLY.
The GoNexOne beats the MT3G with leaps and bounds.
June 30th, 2010 at 4:55 pm
If it is between these 2, my vote goes to My Touch. Otherwise, I’m voting for none because of that Samsung Galaxy S coming out soon.
June 30th, 2010 at 4:56 pm
I’m a Tmo rep with a N1. Not sure why so many people don’t think the camera has flash on it. It does and is very bright. I’m assuming most people dissing the Nexus have simply just never seem one before which I’ll admit is Google’s fault. After selling lots of Slides, which I’ll admit is a nice phone, I don’t think it is in the same league as the Nexus. On contract the Nexus is actually cheaper up front since you don’t need a rebate and the processor its a significant difference.
I see the Nexus going to the finals but losing to the Droid because of the sheet number of Droid customers on Verizon.
June 30th, 2010 at 7:24 pm
Im not sure if this is the right way to vote, but my vote goes for the N1. I like it
Tho android needs to get a better media player. One that plays all sorts of files like wma, wmv, avi, etc.
June 30th, 2010 at 8:20 pm
NEXUS 1 wins. but t-mobile says the 2.2 android upgrade will be available for the slide soon so that argument is out.
June 30th, 2010 at 8:50 pm
I have a Nexus One for all the reasons listed above, PLUS the best reason right now to go with the N1 over anyother Android phone (at least for now). It’s UNLOCKED, I get no T-Mobile, Verizon, or AT&T Software that limits what I can do, slows down my device, or reminds me what contract I’m on everytime I start up the phone. Even if I pull out the SIM Card all my apps, everything still works (but phone calls) via WI-FI.
The real contest will be VS which ever Droid this thing faces in the next round, but for my money right now the N1 will pretty much be the best Android Phone out until we see the HTC Scorpion.
June 30th, 2010 at 9:09 pm
NEXUS ONE!
Why?
Upgradable to Android 3.0 aka (GINGERBREAD)
MyTouch 3g isn’t.
Why?
It doesn’t have a 1ghz processor or higher that is needed to run android 3.0
Nexus one gets updates first
nexus is worth the price
mytouch should be 150 or 120
nexus one is faster
nexus is the original android. (No dumb custom features like htc did on the slide)
BIGGER AND BETTER SCREEN!
June 30th, 2010 at 9:12 pm
T-mobile better not bring there fans to vote….Damn it they want their followers to vote for the slide.
WTF!
Nexus One is better and its also for t_mobile.
are they retarded just like their coverage, WTF!
June 30th, 2010 at 10:25 pm
@jonathan understanding of the resolution differences explain that lower resolution on the mt3gs screen means the gpu has less work to do hence it benchmarking “better”
Duh
June 30th, 2010 at 11:37 pm
i have nexus one, and love it, but cannot get 2.2
July 1st, 2010 at 12:51 am
this is bs, the evo should of beat the slide by far.
July 1st, 2010 at 1:10 am
YES! Nexus one wins by a landslide. this also means it beats the evo.
July 1st, 2010 at 1:11 am
Ok the Mytouch had almost 2,000 votes vs. the EVO now it only has 600 vs. the nexus one WTF
July 1st, 2010 at 1:23 am
@Themetatron I understand that thats the reasoning for the better GPU benchmarks but does that lower resolution excuse really hold any water? I mean, You can’t really notice a big difference until you are using a benchmark test that actually pushes HD graphics!!! Otherwise the games will look pretty much the same whether they are being put out on the G1 or the Samsung Galaxy S. Oh and by the way, when comparing the screen on the Mytouch Slide to the one on the Ipod touch 2g, they look almost identical, why? Its because they are the same resolution!! and Im sorry but my Ipod touch rocks the socks off the EVO and the Nexus in any and all benchmarks anyday of the week and looks better while doing it with just a 480×320 resolution!!!! Now why cant the Mytouch Slide do the same??? Any Nexus fanboys want to explain it LOGICALLY?? You can’t since Its not a bad screen at all and looks hella beautiful while watching HQ Youtube videos on it. So when talking about resolution, DOES IT REALLY MATTER if the games are not in HD in the first place??
July 1st, 2010 at 1:43 am
Slide. Just purchased it over the Nexus One. Couldn’t vote though because the poll was closed at 10:43PM even though it says it closes at midnight.
July 1st, 2010 at 10:58 am
i play the snes and nes on my my touch. its great with the seperate keyboard to play with. It sucks playing it on the nexus one even with the multitouch ability. I know alot of people will talk about the 1 ghz processor, I work at Tmobile in pda tech support (blackberry , android support)and am a photographer as well, and even though the processor is nice, the actual functions of the phone, everybody even here at work prefer the slide, over phones like the nexus one, hd2, and gravity s. IF your going to watch tv and videos on your phone, than okay, but if you are going to use your phone for its intended purpose (to make calls, comfortability, ease of use with texting, abililty to customize iwth your daililng life, I think the slide is the best phone on the market. faster? no, best “gimmicks”? no. Its like people thinking a 8 megapixel camera is way better than a 5 megapixel. Those are the same people wasting money on a 12.3 megapixels camera thinking they are taking better pictures. Pixels and resolution dont matter unless you are closly cropping or blowing up pictures. Regular pictures on a phone do not matter. Same with Phone screen, they are not big enough to notice the pixel difference. on a 55″ tv, okay, pixels are going to matter, but on a 4″ screen, no. we watched the same exact movie on the HD2, my touch slide, nexus one, and gravity s. you could barely tell the difference, and my touch slide wazs WAAAY faster in skipping scenes with no buffer at all. (9 out of 10 employees here would prefer the my touch slide as a phone)
July 1st, 2010 at 1:16 pm
fools..the g1 beats you all :O
Just kidding…kinda
N1 > MT3GS
but
Droid incredible > N1
July 2nd, 2010 at 1:04 am
@jonathan
wow your dumb. yes of course it matters. Your pushing out twice the bandwidth. The slide has the same GPU as the Nexus. read your own damn link
July 2nd, 2010 at 10:34 am
Nexus One, Best of Best!!
July 4th, 2010 at 3:29 pm
You all betrayed google
Better not see you on google.com anymore. Traitors!!
July 5th, 2010 at 10:48 am
what the???? No flash on the N1?? its CLEARLY visible on any pictures of the back of the N1…..not to mention the flash can be turned on during video recording! This is a no brainer of who wins…..the N1 is just a better phone, stop being fan boys!
July 5th, 2010 at 11:42 pm
i have a 3g slide and i love it!!! i had the original android phone the g1 and i upgraded to the slide and boy what a difference. even after jailbreaking and using the latest mod availabe for the g1 it was no where near as fast as the slide. can we all agree that ANROID PWNS iPHONE!!!!!
July 7th, 2010 at 6:16 pm
MyTouch 3g Slide are such cheaters, 2,400 votes against the Evo, while previous round it only had 300 votes against the LG Ally. It is more apparent in the next round against the Nexus One for semifinals, that it only had 600 votes!!! Whoever purposefully dethroned the Evo by cheating is lame. This site is more lame for allowing the cheater(s) get their way.
August 11th, 2010 at 6:53 pm
in my opinion, mytouch is better, BUT only because of its sense UI. think about it… u can get some crappy android phone and slap some Sense UI on it and BAM! if nexus one had sense than it would be da BOMB. but currently, mytouch 3g slide is good for first time smartphone buyers and those of us who dont go all out and depend on it to run your life. if u want like 2 million apps running at the same time then buy a nexus one and go nuts.
September 8th, 2010 at 3:10 am
People!!!! The 600mhz processor is the arm… the same one found in the iphone 3gs! I really doesn’t matter about processor speed… battery life is all that matters in the smartphone world And the slide has the n1 beat
