Android 2.2 Starts Popping Up On the Nexus One

May 23rd, 2010 by Marc Flores

Just last week at Google I/O, Google’s developer conference, a new version of Android was released and it caused quite a stir. Froyo, as the latest version (Android 2.2.) is called, promised more speed and a host of new features that made iPhone users a little green with envy. We were skeptical at first, but even our own tests confirm Google’s promises of speed and efficiency.

Of course, it also left us wondering, “When will it become available and which devices will get it first?” The answers are “now” and “the Nexus One.” Over the past two days, some users have been reporting that they were waking up to Android 2.2 push updates when they powered on their phones.

If you’re sporting a Nexus One, your time will come soon enough. And if you simply can’t wait for it, there is also a way to get it onto your device manually. Pretty soon you’ll enjoy tethering, Flash 10.1 support and overall speeds that are more than twice as fast as the latest and greatest Android handsets.

For those of you who own Android devices with HTC’s Sense UI, you might have to wait a little lot longer.
