Personally I'd love to see something akin to a web browsing kindle. Something about the size, weight and thickness of the Kindle. But with a responsive touchscreen and no keyboard. Presumably this means e-Ink is out since its just too slow. I could live without color and even video if necessary to keep the battery life up, but the web browsing performance on the kindle is just lacking, so I doubt this can be made to work for now.

I'd use it in the living room, as an alternative or adjunct to watching TV. Also useful as a Kitchen appliance--recipes etc. All in one, wipeable, non-glossy display. Touchscreen interface for everything, including an on screen keyboard.

Something in the 9-10" screen range probably. At least 1024x600, and preferably higher if it isn't too squinty. If the thing is highly responsive to scrolling, the smaller dimensions would be more livable. Multi-touch.

Wifi, preferably 802.11n for the range. A 3G version sold by the carriers could be a good idea for some.

Mine doesn't need tons of local storage, certainly not spinning media. Just flash, in the iPhone range, e.g. 16-32GB just for apps, photos, some music, some video.

No need for a high powered processor. It just needs to support a proper browser, including flash, video codecs used on the internet etc. So feel free to use an ARM CPU if that will keep the battery life up.
