  1. Miss Versatile Says:

I had the Samsung N110 and I loved the battery life. I could go from JFK airport to LAX including time in airport waiting for flight on one battery charge. During this last CES it was great to have I didn’t worry about the battery until end of day. It doesn’t take long to recharge from empty battery either. Only downfall is it got hot quickly and was kinda slow compared to other laptops on the market.

  2. Jake Says:

Well battery life depends. If you have a monster 18.4″ with discrete graphics cards expectations are alot less. But with the new Sandy Bridge processors your getting then you ever had before.

  3. Jamshed Says:

    Dear Jake:
Where can I get a monster 18.4″ with discrete graphics cards with the new Sandy Bridge processors ?
And Hi-Life batteries for geological field work.
    Thanks,
    Jamshed

  4. Mike Prospero Says:

Jamshed: Your best bet would be a workstation from Lenovo or Dell.

  5. nando4 Says:

How about testing a 12.5″ HP 2570P with 100Whr 9-cell? It claims 9-15hrs battery life in it’s specs. A system with a socketted CPU (so can be user upgraded) and optical drive. A decent alternative to a 12.5″ Lenovo X230 which has a soldered CPU and no optical drive.

  6. Avram Piltch, LAPTOP Online Editorial Director Says:

    @nando4,

Thanks. We’ll try to get one in.

  7. Laptors Says:

    Good articles=))))

  8. freeskydiver Says:

What settings did you used during the tests??

  9. kinesthe Says:

Given some laptops are tested with sheet batteries, why not test the Dell e6430 with its battery slice as well? Over 30 hours of runtime with its battery slice option

  10. theEVT Says:

I think the FatBatt Fifty is a more accurate list. They update it too but I don’t know how often.

  11. Ron B. Says:

I have a Gateway 18″ display. I know it will run for about 4 1/2 hours on a single charge. I haven’t tried it much longer.
My criteria was large screen and at least 3 GB of memory. Hard drive size didn’t matter a lot because I don’t store a lot of games or many large programs on it. My largest game is Microsoft Flight Simulator and I have an older version of Word and Excel. I don’t upgrade unless there’s absolutely no way to get around it. By the way, my old laptop died after about 11 years I had to get a new one. My biggest criteria was the ability for wireless connections for my wife and I. We use Comcast and have had no problems with our computers AFTER they came out and buried our phone lines.

  12. sunny dee Says:

The best experience I have had is with samsung NC215 notebook.
It runs for about 8 hours when fully charged

  13. John B Says:

Acer 4810T runs 7-8hrs with stock battery. Of course no longer available since this is 3 yrs old but it is the ‘John Deere” of computers, IMO. Very satisfied and would suggest that you look at the current replacement of this item in an Acer model.

  14. Paul Renault Says:

According to Panasonic’s spec sheet, their CF31 has a (with no extra) battery life of 14.5 hours; easily topping the Lenovo X320′s “paltry” 7 hours. Adding the media pocket battery brings the total to 21 hours. To me, this is a clear winner in this battle.

Yes, it is a little heavy, but you don’t need to carry it in a big, heavy, padded case – so what if you drop it on the sidewalk, eh?

Bonus, you can safely use it at the beach in the sun – just rinse it off if you spill your mai tai on it.

  15. Jimmy Says:

Battery life depends on the size, form factor, and its internal components. But where is the Samsung series 7 Chronos, and the Ativ book 9?

  16. pp Says:
