Alienware Zaps the Competition With the Area-51 m15x Series

area-51-m15x.jpgThe Alienware brand has become synonymous with hardcore gaming due to a legacy of excellent graphics performance and a futuristic-chic design. The company continues in that tradition with the Area-51 m15x series, a pioneering class of 15.4-inch notebooks that are the first machines of its size to feature ultra-speedy Intel Core 2 Extreme processors and powerful GeForce 8800M GTX graphics. The high-end processors and graphics engines found in this new series are designed to let gamers plow through the most demanding DirectX 10 games as desktop replacement notebooks would, minus the bulk. With the Area-51 15x-series, gamers can trick out the Area 51 m15x series with up to 4GB of RAM, 1GB of Intel Turbo Memory, 200GB or 320GB hard drives (there’s also an option for configuring the system with a 64GB solid-state drive for $875), a 2X Blu-ray burner ($400), and one of eight Alienware FX system lights. Under the hood runs 802.11n Wi-Fi, Alenware’s BinaryGFX technology (which allows you to switch between integrated and discrete graphics), and Smart Bay technology (which gives users hot-swappable optical drives, secondary hard drives, and backup batteries). The Alienware Area-51 m15x is available now starting at $2,099, with a $1,499 model coming in the near future. Check back for an in-depth review of this first-of-a-kind notebook
