Alienware M11x Gets More Powerful Intel Core CPUs, Nvidia Optimus
In our review of the Alienware M11x, we loved just about everything with the system, but wished that it came with Nvidia’s Optimus technology that let it switch between integrated and discrete graphics chips automatically. Well, someone was listening, as today Alienware announced that the M11x will now feature that technology.
As if that weren’t enough, the M11x will also be available with new Intel Core processors, namely the 1.066-GHz Intel Core i5-520UM and the 1.2-GHz Intel Core i7-640UM CPUs. However, there’s a caveat. While the system starts at $799 with a Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor, if you want Optimus, you have to spring for one of the new Core processors; those configurations start at $949.
Regardless, both use the Nvidia GeForce GT 335M GPU, which was more than powerful enough for the latest titles. Everything else remains the same, including the 11.6-inch, 1366 x 768-pixel screen, the cool backlit keyboard, and the same badass design. We can’t wait to take it for a spin.
