Acer has added a new member to its family of Android-based Iconia tablets with the introduction of the 10.1-inch Iconia tab A200. Priced at $329, the 1.5-pound Honeycomb-powered tablet comes wrapped in a titanium gray-colored front casing, and a black-patterned soft-touch backing. Power for the A200 comes from a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and integrated Nvidia GeForce GPU for displaying 1080p video on its 1280 x 800 resolution display.

For those users who would rather pass on another Honeycomb-based tablet, Acer says the Iconia Tab A200 will get a free upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in mid-February. The company is offering two versions of the A200, with the 8GB config priced at $329 and the 16GB config priced at $349. Port connections include a full-size USB 2.0 port, a Micro SDcard slot, and a micro-USB port. Up front you’ll find a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for use with video chat apps.

Mobile gamers will be happy to know that the Iconia Tab A200 comes loaded with Nvidia’s Tegra Zone Android app, which gives users access to a host of games designed to take advantage of the Tegra 2′s power. The A200′s gyroscope also provide gamers with six-access motion control capabilities.

Other featured apps include Acer’s SocialJogger, which consolidates users’ social media networks in one interface; Acer Ring, gives users easy access to their most frequently used apps; and Acer clear-fi, which allows users to wirelessly connect the A200 with any DLNA-enabled device.

Both the 8GB and 16GB versions of the Iconia Tab A200 go on sale Jan. 15. Stay tuned for our full review.
