Acer Exec: Windows 7 to Come Pre-Installed Starting October 23
April 30th, 2009 by Dana Wollman
Microsoft has been tight-lipped about when the final version of Windows 7 ($77.54) will start shipping, except to say that it would arrive in late 2009, or by late January 2010.
But Bobby Watkins, general manager of Acer’s UK division, was more candid, revealing to Pocket-lint that it would begin shipping the OS October 23.
Specifically, Watkins said that the Z5600 PC, an all-in-one designed specifically for Windows 7, would come with the OS pre-installed beginning then. He added that if customers had bought a Vista machine in the 30 days before that, they would be eligble for Microsoft’s free upgrade program.
No word, however, on whether Acer America (or any of other regional division) will follow suit on October 23, nor whether the company would ship all of its PCs with the OS.
Thanks, Pocket-lint!
