Acer Aspire 5740 Reviewed: Great Core i5 Performance for a Great Price

We’re all for a good bargain, especially when it’s a system that includes Intel’s latest Core i5 processor. Priced at just $649, Acer’s Aspire 5740 costs $150 to $200 less than similarly equipped 15.6-inch machines from Dell and HP, yet it delivers very snappy performance. We also like the responsive FineTip keyboard and booming Dolby speakers.

While the integrated Intel graphics and below-average endurance were disappointments and the design isn’t as fresh as it once was, this laptop is a remarkable value.
