A Feature Phone to Rule Them All? Video of LG Chocolate BL40 Leaks

July 13th, 2009 by Todd Haselton

chocolateNormally when we mention high-end specs like a 4-inch multi-touch glass display with an 800 x 345 pixel resolution, Wi-Fi, AGPS, and 7.2Mbps data speeds, you’d think we were talking about a pricey smart phone like the iPhone. But those are actually the specs that were leaked in an LG promotional video for its Chocolate BL40 dumb phone, which also sports a 5MP camera. The super thin Chocolate BL40 strays a bit away from its Verizon Wireless cousins, the Chocolate, Chocolate 2, and Chocolate 3, by offering HSDPA connectivity as opposed to the EV-DO radios found in the two previous devices. It also ditches the alphanumeric keyboard for an on-screen QWERTY one. Read on for more info, including the full promo-video that was leaked on YouTube. The user-interface is said to be Flash powered, although we wonder if it’s actually as zippy as the video makes it out to be. Since it doesn’t look to have a smart phone operating system, we wonder how powerful the Web browser will be also, despite claims of “full browsing.” A carrier and price tag have yet to be announced, we’ll keep you updated as more information about the Chocolate BL40 becomes available.
