A Closer Look at the Sony Vaio P

Last night, we were lucky enough to get our mitts on review unit of the Sony VAIO P. (Update: We have a full review of the Sony VAIO P. Check it out here.) We quickly brought it back to our hotel room, sat down and took a closer look at this unique, potentially ground-breaking system. We’re not quite sure whether to call the VAIO P a netbook, a notebook, or maybe a “clutch PC” because the system has the specs of a netbook, the price and styling of an expensive ultraportable, but is shaped like a clutch bag. The system starts at $899, but our review unit is an $1,199 SKU that features a 64GB SSD instead of the standard 60GB hard drive and Windows Vista Home Premium instead of Vista Basic. We’ ve started running our standard suite of benchmarks on the system, and plan to post the results within the next day or so, but check out the video below for an in-depth hands-on and stay tuned for more tomorrow.
The VAIO P is the Best Netbook of 2009 CES!

Thanks for the video. Sony’s press release says the VAIO P Series notebooks feature a built-in web camera, 3G mobile broadband connectivity, 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies, as well as GPS functionality. Great features!
