Half of them had better battery life on 3G half on Wi-Fi - it depends on type of the modules. Most of the notebooks got Sierra Wireless modules, this Ericsson is newer - maybe better. Btw. the Aspire One is 3G ready too - the integration of the module is only about the marketing/pricepoint. I comapared WiFi vs. 3G long time ago on few notebooks – the results were mixed.
