Just moments ago Apple’s very own Steve Jobs unveiled the second generation of the iPhone – the iPhone 3G. The new iPhone will be available starting July 11. The 8GB version will retail for $199 and the 16GB for $299. Additionally, the new iPhone will have GPS functionality. The phone will look relatively similar to the first phone, but will be slightly thinner and has rounder edges. The 16GB will be available in a white coloring. Apple also announced expanded international availability. It will be offered in 22 countries to start and then expand to over 70. The major change is the addition of 3G connectivity. Apple claims its 3G speeds will load pages 36 percent faster than the Nokia N95 and Treo 750. As for battery life, Jobs promises 300 hours of standby, 8 hours of 2G talk time, and 5 hours of 3G talk time. Stay tuned for more details.
