I've been pretty amazed (in a bad way) at just how many Android phones with 4G LTE last less than 5 hours on our battery test. This involves continuous Web surfing over cellular on 40 percent brightness. The Galaxy Nexus is one of the worst offenders, offering less than 4 hours of endurance. My twin brother had to pick up an extended battery just to make sure his didn't die before lunch — and that adds lots of bulk.
The iPhone 5 lasted a very good 7 hours and 13 minutes in our battery test, which beats the average Android phone by more than an hour. While the Motorola Droid RAZR HD's huge 3,300 mAh battery lasts even longer on a charge, Apple's device strikes a better balance of size and endurance.
