10 Gifts for the Geek Who Has Everything

Gaming Mouse: Razer Naga

No doubt your favorite geek has a mouse, but does their mouse have more than a dozen buttons? Many of today’s gaming mice come with a series of programmable buttons which can launch custom macros or open programs.

If your geek is a big gamer, having the ability to assign actions to these buttons could mean the difference between winning and losing. If they don’t play games, they can use the buttons to launch their most-used programs or paste frequently used text into emails. Amongst many-button mice, the Razer Naga stands out for its tactile, easy-to reach buttons and speedy navigation.

These are all great gift ideas, but I went a different direction for my Geek who has everything. I initially didn’t know what to get my son; I thought he already had every gadget known to man. Thankfully, one of my coworkers at DISH gave me the idea of getting a DISH Sling Adapter. Once I connect that to my DISH Hopper DVR, my son will be able to stream any live program or any recorded program from our DVR to his phone. He is a big pop culture TV and Movie buff, so I know he will love being able to access that stuff at any time.

About the keyboard, if the one receiving the gift is a gamer, don’t buy him/her a Unicomp Ultra Classic (it is not good for gaming since it can’t detect more than 2 key presses at the same time, it is great for typing though). A great keyboard for gaming and typing is a RK-9100 with Cherry Blue switches, or a Razer BlackWidow 2013 with Cherry Blue Switches. A great keyboard for skill-based games (but not so good for typing) is a Corsair Vengeance K60 with Cherry Red Switches.
