10 Best Apps for Your New Tablet
Amazon Kindle (Android, iPad, Windows 8)
From iBooks to Nook to Kobo, there are tons of reading apps for tablets, but Kindle is tops. Amazon has a vast selection of content, including more than 1 million books and more than 400 magazines and newspapers. As you would expect, you can pick up where you left off from your phone (via Whispersync technology) and customize everything from the font size to background color. What's new in version 3.5 for iPad is X-Ray for books, which enriches the reading experience by letting you learn more about characters, places and phrases by integrating with Wikipedia and Shelfari. Windows 8 users can pin individual titles to their Start screens. Have a Kindle Fire? If you're an Amazon Prime member you can access thousands of books for free via the Lending Library. Free

Thank you for the great ideas, Mark. I got a new Nexus 7 at a Christmas party we had in my office at DISH last week. Now I am looking for a few good apps. I think that OfficePro HD will come in handy at work and Evernote looks like a useful app too. I would like to recommend #11 for your list. It’s called the DISH Remote Access app, and it streams live TV channels or recordings from my Hopper DVR to my tablet. It works anywhere I can get a good internet connection. I have secretly been using it to pass the time when things get a little slow around the office!

I prefer the Kindle Fire HD. The interface is amazing and it’s very easy to use. It’s a great combination of functional and simple. Check out its Amazon page(http://bit.ly/S1CzWe) if you want to compare what they bring to the table.
