10 Best Apps for Your New Tablet
Skype (Android, iPad, Windows 8)
Skype is the go-to app for staying in touch with friends and family because it's not limited to one platform. Whether you're using an iPad, Kindle Fire HD or Microsoft Surface, you'll be able to chat face to face using your device's front-facing camera. Even if you don't feel camera-ready on any given day, you can make free Skype-to-Skype calls to the more than 250 million people that use this service. A new emoticon picker spices up the instant- messaging experience. Skype is especially compelling on Windows 8 and Windows RT devices because you can snap a friend to the side of your screen while you're using another app. We won't tell.

Thank you for the great ideas, Mark. I got a new Nexus 7 at a Christmas party we had in my office at DISH last week. Now I am looking for a few good apps. I think that OfficePro HD will come in handy at work and Evernote looks like a useful app too. I would like to recommend #11 for your list. It’s called the DISH Remote Access app, and it streams live TV channels or recordings from my Hopper DVR to my tablet. It works anywhere I can get a good internet connection. I have secretly been using it to pass the time when things get a little slow around the office!

I prefer the Kindle Fire HD. The interface is amazing and it’s very easy to use. It’s a great combination of functional and simple. Check out its Amazon page(http://bit.ly/S1CzWe) if you want to compare what they bring to the table.
